Nothing too fancy, just the two I won from that seller in Sweden auctioning off a collection. He had some good stuff, too! Isley's, The Manhattans, Musicmagic - a lot of it still sealed and bidding started at $10 /each! Herbie was still sealed. I opened it - and, like most sealed tapes, required a LOT of surgery to make it work again. Luckily, it was near the splice. Fresh splice, new pad, Robert's your Mothers' Brother. My first Herbie Hancock Q8, too! Though I have Thrust and Sextant on SACD.
Funny how technology made a big difference. Both are Dolby Q8's, but the Hancock sounds a bit lifeless with Dolby on, especially the back channels. On the other hand, the Andy Williams tape sounds AMAZING with Dolby ON. Quite hissy with it off, but perfectly quiet and still nice and bright with Dolby on. That was a pleasant surprise.
