Mark Knopflers new release "Kill To Get Crimson" Special Edition DVD Video & CD is up for pre order at Acoustic Sounds, to be released on September 18th. No details or mention of a 5.1 mix, however it is a Warner release and Mark has given us a couple excellent surround releases on DVDA. Perhaps this will finally be the DVDA release from BSM (wishful speculation). Realistically it does say DVD Video, so we can probably only expect Dolby Digital. I checked the Mark Knopfler site, but no details there either. We'll keep our fingers crossed. ;)

Thanks Dennis.

I have just about everything from Mark and Dire Straits.
Hoping for that superlative 5.1 mix!!

Well, it looks like this is a wash. The bonus DVD on the "Deluxe Edition" only contains interviews and an in studio "Making Of." :zzzzz Another missed opportunity from an artist that previously released 5.1 titles on SACD and DVD-A. Not even high resolution stereo tracks. What a let down! :(

There is a half speed mastered 180g LP, with bonus CD. It seems that's all they are going to do.

Mark Knopfler is just another of those artists who appreciate what 5.1 is all about, and backs the format 100%. Too bad their record companies don't share their enthusiasm, and are doing all they can to stifle their creativity. If this one does have a 5.1 mix in any format, I'll buy it. But I would definitely prefer DVD-A.

Yeah, it's just sad! I was really hoping this would be a 5.1 DVD-A.

At least a few good companies, (like Telarc) keep carrying the multichannel torch for us on SACD.

I will probably pick up the LP/CD set of "Kill To Get Crimson."
