I did some comparisons between the 2 and honestly could not discern any differences. If there were differences, they were subtle and I missed them.
Again, how are you guys comparing two Atmos mixes? I thought someone said the earlier one was removed, and doing any Audacity ripping doesn't preserve Atmos. Thx

The "deluxe editions" still have the 2017 mixes only the new "remix" release has the new mixes.

Checking out this weeks new releases.

If you are time pressed, I’ve got my money on this one as being probable best:

Certainly pop oriented, (so not for all tastes) with:

Feel you now: Alessia Cara
Rescue me: Alesso & Danna Paola

added to my demo playlist.

Many other commendable mixes notably a decent track from 070 Shake - whom has a decent Atmos album : Modus Vivendi:

with demo worthy tracks - Microdosing; and Morrow.

Some contemporary synth pop which embraces Object Based surround.

(Pretty sure offerings also on Tidal)

A bright and sunny morning here in South Oxfordshire, with a slight nip in the air.

To add to that ambience we have this Atmos release...

This is delightful 😊

The music I now listen to, who would have thought it possible, only a few years back.🤔

Agree. This is pretty good. Surprisingly it is labeled’ pop’.
Could have been outstanding tif they spread the orchestra more around the listener. Remix anyone?

Blade Runner is very good....excellent mix and I'm enjoying the music 🎶.

This album certainly breaks the mold of most contemporary hip/hop with a lot of live instrumentation and singing. Track 2 is certainly a very unique Atmos mix. If it wasn’t so late would listen to the whole album. Atmos streaming has killed my 8 hour sleep requirement.

I just compared the mixes labelled as the 2017 version and the 2021 version by ear. I have no idea if they are same mix or different mixes or if either or both of them was the previous version or the new version.

Yeah, there is actually a pretty good chance the ones on the 2017 get replaced by the new ones, I did check a few days ago and the file sizes were different if I downloaded them but that could just be artwork.

Checked out some of that Modus-Vivendi woody, and I'm not crazy about a lot of Vocoder type processing. Although I'm a big fan of Daft Punk's - Random Access Memories and would love that one in a great Atmos mix!

Random Access Memories is another superb album that's made for Multichannel i was half-expecting would've appeared in some form of Surround Sound by now!! 🤞

Well Freddie, as my dear old departed wacky pappy used to say- "Spit in one hand, wish in another; and see which one fills up faster!" 😢

Franco Battiato - L'imboscata (2021 Dolby Atmos Mix)
https://tidal.com/browse/album/202416701
This is the second atmos mix of a Battiato album, and marks the 25th anniversary of the album. In the Italian news, the Atmos mix went pretty much unnoticed, apart from a short interview to Pino PInaxa (the mixer and an old friend of Franco).

A bit of background for those who are not familiar with the album. This one was a big success in Italy and partially in Spain. La Cura was the lead single, followed by Strani Giorni and Di Passaggio. Gavin Harrison plays drums on La Cura and possibly another couple of songs.

I have only heard the stereo remix via headphones, and I would probably recommend listening to the original mix first, primarily for the dynamics and the vocals. Now I am really looking forward to hearing the atmos, which will likely be amazing.

Guess who listened to the whole album last night? ( I have to apologize to my melatonin production.)

This is actually quite a good album with jazz inflections. If you want to stray into the world of hip hop I would recommend this album- just wish there was less expletives so I didn’t have to listen so late whilst my kids are in bed.
Plus the album animation on Apple gave me a chuckle….
