Mind Games was announced by accident, John Lennon said only Imagine and Walls & Bridges were quad.

I have a Release flyer

Atlantic Crossing - Rod Stewart CD-4

Still Apr 1 here, but not fooling.

Chicago X was released on both SQ & Q8. I own a Q8.

The LP you depict is not Chicago X, as the etched # indicates Ode QU 88035. Do you know what title it is? Although I don't memorize #'s and am not inclined to research it, it must be a title pressed very late in A&M/Ode's custom pressing arrangement with Columbia, judging from the #.

This is Carole King - Fantasy - QS LP, definitely not a CD-4. I don't think it is SQ, doesn't decode like SQ, but you just can never be sure about ODE/A&M.
Side 2 is QU 88036

Fantasy was definitely not a US CD-4. In fact, I don't believe that it ever was released on Quad vinyl in the US. I have a Q8 of it. King 4D-9 was the Japan CD-4 #.

There are many test lps done in another format. I have seen Columbia SQ titles in CD-4 and vice versa. Picked up a white label cd4 usa pressed of Dianna Ross live. Released on Q8 only here. Knowing the record execs back then would have been gold.
Fun part about that purchase was it was in NYC. I found the cover(white cover with cd-4 dianna ross wrote on the cover) on the floor and he called the record up from the basement storage. It was marked at $85 and i said i would take it before he saw it. He was mentioning something about redoing prices on old lps when he saw this and said "this would have been one of them" as he knew it was a rather odd pressing. That was a while ago, bet even New York has few record stores remaining. Used to hit the guy on Bleeker and a few other big stores. Any left?

Record stores? What are those? There's one full line new record store in the Chicago area and half a dozen niche marketers. Milwaukee has two full-line stores. I so prefer browsing and holding to buying on line.

In the Quad days, there were no used stores. I was not aware of Japan LP's being imported here and had not seen them anywhere around Chicago back then, only Euro imports. What missed opportunities.

What's the story on the Devo Are We Not Men DVD-A? I've never heard of that being available. I'd trade half my collection to get my hands on that.

Devo was never released, as was my whole list in post #1 in this thread. A couple had been mixed in 5.1 and were previously available in Quad.

We're pinheads all, Jocko Homo.

Ahh, I got so excited at the possibility of this existing I missed the part at the end about it never being released. One chromosome too many.

Chicago X was released as an SQ/Q8, but the DVD-A never happened.

Court & Spark - Joni Mitchell was a CD-4/Q4/Q8, but no DVD-A
Welcome Back My Friends...ELP was Q8x2, but no CD-4 or modern digital surround.

To my knowledege, no other titles were ever released in Quad or 5.1

In the effort to give proper knowledge
Court & Spark not on Q4
Emerson Lake & Palmer Q8x3
Chicago X must have hit the production stage but never released - I can say without hesitation that it does exist;)
