Although the SACD format get's "beat up" on this board by some posters...they have carried the torch for hi rez discs after DVD-A tanked..if it wasn't for that format hi rez would have died years ago...I'd love to see blu ray carry the torch from this point going forward...a least for another decade...with 4k blu ray coming later this year the hope is the format can be kept alive...all that storage capacity and machines that are reasonably priced...no reason it can't survive for a decade...if vinyl can survive...no reason blu ray can't...and with the continued problems with internet speeds and capacity...downloads won't see the growth companies are hoping for...
To be fair, there were far more SACDs manufactured around the world than DVD-As, so to say that SACDs outsold DVD-As is a bit of an understatement.
And it's also the case that the top selling titles on SACD were selling quite a few more units than the top selling units on DVD Audio. Which led to the abandonment of DVD Audio some time ago by most participants in the format.
It is nice to see SACDs continue to be issued - to the 10,000 title milestone we have today. And the emergence of DSD Downloads will keep things rolling in 2015. More fun ahead.
Do you mean that I need to buy 9,400 more SACD's in order to "have the entire set?" Are you serious?

Are you trying to keep up with Fred?
There are more SACDs that are not in the database. e.g HK & Japanese released titles.
Are you trying to keep up with Fred?
No, actually, Adam (Fred) is trying to keep up with me.
And, yes, I have several compilation and promo discs that aren't listed in sa-cd.net.
