Anyone know anything about this decoder? I picked it up at a thrift shop

Manufacturer: Acoustiflex
Model number: QD-1000.

It supports SQ, EV, and "synthesized quad"

The box is about 8" wide, maybe 6" deep

Thanks in advance

Pretty much fake surround sound, if it's 'synthesized quad'. Real quad= discrete, not syntheiszed

Maybe I am misunderstanding you...

I realize "synthesized" is fake, but that is just one of the options to choose from. The other two options, SQ and EV, are matrixed surround systems, which means they are real surround. Certainly not as "pure" as a discrete surround system.

I was hoping to find out if this box is halfway decent at all.

My guess is that if nobody here has any experience with it, that it is likely a very basic, non-logic decoder ... especially if it says EV, which would ONLY appear on VERY early models ... pre-QS/RM. Unless it is $5 or less, don't bother with it. Mike.
