Jay & the Techniques! I thinkthat was the third LP I ever bought!

#1 Bill Cosby - To Russell My Brother, Whom I Slept With
#2 Beach Boys - Surfer Girl

Before they went National Ike and Tina played our high school and our Friday night dance venue (Wig-Wam) probably several times. They were a local band from East St. Louis.

My college roommate played Bari Sax in a local band called the Cecil Davis Review who would open for them and other soul acts.

The student board of WigWam had battles over whether to hire Soul bands or Beatle wannabees. 1965-68

Mother Popcorn - James Brown

So you know it's got SOUL - Van the Man

Peace Sign - War autographed by ENTIRE lineup of that CD!!

Partied, ate pizza, did shots, shot pool and chatted with Lonnie Jordan, Ronnie Hammon, Tex Nakamura and the boys in between sets!! Lonnie was chatting up me and a chick he had met here in the '70's. A PERFECT GENTLEMAN!!

I was chatting up Ronnie about Ballin'Jack, the band he had been in before War. I also asked about Luther (Rabb) RIP, who had been in both War and Ballin'Jack w/Ronnie. Ronnie was stunned I knew who they were. Have all their albums.

Next time I caught them live, it was NYE '13-'14 at Chicago Theater w/Cheech & Chong. First NYE w/my (later) Husband!
