After listening to this in 5.1 I would have to say that this is NOT an ES mix. Compare this to the live Steely Dan or Eagles or Roy Orbison and you will definitely hear the difference. Add to that that there is no mention of ES and the actual book says it was mixed by Dennis Leonard and Derek Featherstone and there you have it.

Not really disappointed that I sprung for the complete set.... Well maybe a little.

OK, not ES, but can you please comment more specifically on how the mix sounds? I have been told it is more than just ambience...

Barely. Mostly ambiance and crowd in the rear with a bit of leakage from guitars etc. Nowhere near an ES mix and more like a typical live "surround" presentation with band in the front crowd in the rear.
