afaik (a bit like Santana's Lotus?) every version of this should be SQ encoded including subsequent LP and CD reissues?

also fwiw there's a conversion 'out there', though i haven't heard it so can't vouch for source/decoding method/fidelity/surround mix.

either way will be cheaper than buying that eBay listing which in itself is quite a few quid more than sellers on Discogs are asking.

Ya know when I first saw this (I think on a steelydave list) I got all excited - hot and bothered🤯, because I thought it was the bluesman Taj Mahal 🥴, but more like Tangerine Dream? So if SQ CD encoded through SMv2 maybe this one:

In an effort to get a mint copy of Mendelssohn's incidental music to A Midsummer Night's Dream conducted by Andre Previn, I ended up this week with a copies of both the German and UK EMI releases. Whilst the front cover artwork is identical, there are some slight differences in the overall packaging.

The German version:

39830

39831

The UK version:

39832

39833

Curiously the German version has sleeve notes in both German and English, whereas the UK version has a longer text (by a different writer) in English only.

I've never understood EMI's allocation of labels to particular releases and / or sales regions. The German pressing is given the very common EMI branded small dog red label:

39834

But the UK pressing gets the nicer and less commonly used HMV branded large dog red label:

39835

Why the differences? Who Knows?!

Hi. All

Came across this QUAD CD on Discogs I bought it just to try it out its krautrock very trippy music I`ve never heard of this group it says 4D Quadraphonic so I played it with my SM QS position and it surrounds you with a very trippy sound field of 4 corner sound I got to like it after the second listen...……….🥴😵

This week I have taken delivery of two boxed sets.
The first one falls into the category of "surely I've got that already - oh, no, for some strange reason I haven't ever got around to buying it" (!) -

Rostropovitch's Tchaikovsky Symphony cycle:

39954

39955

39956

39957

39958

And secondly, this ECO rendition of Handel's Solomon on Vanguard. In excellent condition apart from the brutal hole punch in the corner of the box (vandals!):

Just one to report today. Still sealed 1812 from CBS:

iirc the mix on this one (as decoded through the Surround Master) was good and active but by golly the SQ LP sounded pretty "meh", like it was congested by compression or something!? also the sides way too long so with all the dynamic boom-bang-a-banging at the end of the side everything fell apart when it got to the good bit, the sound wasn't as explosive as i was hoping for! 💣 (and this was on my SL1210 setup for CD-4, all adjusted to handle IGD and all the other stuff for that finickity system not my previous toytown Pro-Ject TT).
fwiw i picked up the Q8 not long after but my Akai went into a coma before i could record the tape into the computer  maybe one of these days i'll get around to resurrecting it and doing the 1812 (unless DV get there first! not sure if they would tackle it, hasn't it been done to death!?
