Dearest Surround guru's

It is truly a great occasion.

Dave the Bitch reminded me today that he has now been working with me "under me" for 20 years!! I am informed that you get less for murder and probably no one else would take him.

It was 20 years ago when he first came into my then company "Winovate p/l" as an industrial experience engineering student from my old alma mata Swinburne university entering the 5th year. I remember the job interview well, we spent most of the time chatting about our musical tastes and we really connected in our mutual passion for rockabilly/ punk / swing and in my case swamp, he gets a bit funky. I was then impressed by his then massive collection of porn on his hard drive of I think a whole gig! It became obvious within minutes that Dave was the man to get.

So lets all hail the great and powerful Dave the Bitch on his 20 years of penance, hell in 2 years time I plan on him being Chucky 2 when I am put out to pasture at 67.
I also had Brian Setzer as my ringtone at the time - that helped.

Well, I can't blame @chucky3042 or anyone else at Involve, but I was supposed to get my SMV3 yesterday. The USPS told me it was going to be delivered, and it had arrived in Boise (everything goes through Boise around here) according to the tracking information. Yet, today, the tracking shows it's in Twin Falls, about 100 miles away.
:poop:

My post office is not populated by particularly sharp tools.

Yes this is the kind of service we get anymore. I had a UPS package on the truck out for delivery yesterday. They decided they didn't want to bother with bringing it so they left it on the truck to bring today instead. I guess it is a UPS thing now, whenever the driver has too many just leave them on the truck and take it the next day. At least that is the excuse they are using.

Gives you a really nice feeling knowing your electronics is riding around in the heat getting smashed up some more for another day!

I blame society

I think mine took a solid week from Australia. I noticed a small shift in it when I turned it over, it's like a wiring harness slumped with gravity. Nothing big, unit is functioning well.

This is the sorta stuff I love from Brian Setzer!

Get this one!
Great 5.1 surround fun

In spite of the USPS, my SMV3 arrived yesterday. I wasn’t exactly monitoring the mailbox, but the tracking said it was out for delivery, so the carrier handed the box to me in the driveway.

Now I have to get to work and get at least one of my turntables working, and figure out a way to get a second MCH input into my Marantz prepro.

My Anthem pre-pro has only one MCH analog input. But I use a Zektor switcher with 4, 6ch inputs on it. Or for cheap get two passive component video switchers.

Edit: Consider this

What this hobby needs is something with several sets of multi channel analogue ins, switching between them, and an HDMI output to connect to modern amps. That one box would allow connecting several legacy quad decoders to any modern amp.

I use something similar to that switchbox. It works quite well. I suggest using the tape output from your pre/pro to the SM. Keep in mind the bass and treble controls will be out of the picture when using the MC inputs on your Marantz.

I’ve read that Involve is considering a MCH audio to HDMI converter, although they seem to be encountering issues with licensing payments and circuit board layout. I’ve been considering a similar garage shop project myself, but it’s a year or two down the road.

Such a device would allow me to use some of the open inputs on my Marantz pre-pro as quad selector switches, but in the meantime I figure I will use some sort of IR controlled relay box, with all the wiring that that will entail.

I will stop working on the room when I stop breathing.
