It sounds like Sony doesn’t want to pay performance royalties (worth millions) to the heirs of Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. Sony tried an end run by filing a counter suit in the U.S. But, we’ll have to see what happens in the U.K. in terms of what the law is. And what right(s) Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell signed off on in a 50 year old contract, and if that contract is even valid now (in whole or part).

Either way, it sounds like this is going to take years to resolve. Unless the two sides come to some sort of settlement agreement, don’t expect to buy anything in the near term. Unfortunately.

I caught this yesterday on Rolling Stone's website. As another poster already said, this sounds like it's gonna take years to resolve (and will keep holding up the Electric Lady Studios box set).

IMO that's why Sony most likely won't give in to a deal, because they're seeing it as long term protection, not just for this deal, but plenty others ta boot.
